Deep South (Male-Gan)
8 atolls
Male South, Felidhoo, Meemu, Thaa, Laamu, Huvadhoo, Foamulah, Addu
The dive sites in the southern atolls are relatively unvisited. In the Deep South, you'll mainly be diving in the passes, watching the pelagics and schools of fish gather.
We visit the Deep South during February, March and April. At this time of year, the currents enter the passes to the east of the atolls and visibility is very good. With these ideal conditions, the passes of the Deep South guarantee an unforgettable spectacle.
As pass dives are quite sporty, Grand Sud cruises are reserved for experienced divers.
The shark population is larger in the Deep South than in the rest of the archipelago. Grey, albimarginatus and hammerhead sharks. Tiger and thresher sharks can also be seen in the Huvadhoo and Foamulah atolls.
If you like concentrations of pelagic fish, dives in the passes will amaze you: schools of jacks, tunas, barracudas, eagle rays...
In the Thaa and Huvadhoo atolls, we spend the night in lagoons where whale sharks feed at night.
We'll visit manta ray cleaning stations in the southern pass of Meemu atoll and in Addu atoll.
On cruises from 10 to 14 nights, you'll dive the atolls of Male, Felidhoo, Meemu, Thaa, Laamu, Huvadhoo, Foammulah and Addu.
You will take a domestic flight (flight time: 1h40) upon arrival between Male and Gan or at the end of the cruise between Gan and Male.
Sailing between the most remote atolls will take place at night, allowing us to devote the days to diving.
